ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Youth Business Initiative is a charitable business organization. Its founder Mrs. Alero Okoti-Eboh Jadesimi in liaison with Mr. Richard Street, former executive director, YBI - UK, assembled a board of trustees with ChiefAnyanku, former secretary general of the common wealth as chairman and avoluntary executive board. The president of Nigeria is the ex-official patron. Young people in more than sixteen countries have already benefited from the services of Youth Business Initiative a joint venture between the Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum and Prince’s Trust. YBI in Nigeria plans to assist the nation’s Youth achieve success in their work places.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
Youth Business Initiative aim at reducing unemployment in Nigeria by availing young people who are unemployed the opportunity to start their own businesses. It seeks to promote the development of entrepreneurship among youths, and to promote the participation of the youths in economic development.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENT
Be between 18 – 35 old, unemployed or under employed, a citizen of Nigeria. Be able to prove that who have the skill and technical competence to operate the proposed business. Satisfy them (Youth Business Initiative) that you are unable to raise the needed capital. Prepare a sound business proposal/plan for evaluation. Many small business owners cannot understand why a lending institution would refuse to lend them money. While others have no trouble getting money but often surprise to find string attached to their loan approvals. In Youth Business Initiative you only need two guarantors who will be ready to stand for you in case you refuse to pay back the loan, you will also need to provide the passport photograph of those guarantors.

HOW TO APPLY
Collect a free application form from their office at: 29 Moloney Street, Lagos.
Or call any of these numbers: 01-2219055, 01-4360725. After submitting the application form, you will then face a panel that will ask you questions based on the information on the application form you submitted.
I advise that you have a good knowledge about the business you are about to start before meeting the panel. If you are certified by the panel, the goods will be provided (all the goods – up to N300,000). And you are expected to provide an office space as your own contribution to the business – to prove to them that you are serious. If it is farming business like starting a fish pond or planting; Youth Business Initiative will only collect money during harvest period.
